René Gast is a motion designer, animator, film maker, photographer, creative director and likes to work with clients who are open to new ideas, who want a design that works and a result that is distinctly different.
This is not as obvious as it may seem. It’s the well known 80/20 formula: the first 80% is relatively plain sailing, the 20% extra effort needed to make it perfect or special is the tough bit. An idea is only an idea until it has been executed, ideas are easily born but their implementation is often complex. You encounter different unexpected obstacles along the way and have to make choices where aesthetics and practical matters or the productional consequences of planning and budget are concerned. This is why we are involved from the first rough sketch right through to the end of a project. We manage the whole process up until delivery.

We use illustration and animation in many of our projects. This helps to explain matters clearly, to portray sensitive subjects, to visualise the invisible or simply to make a good or sick joke. Our successful collaboration with Yvonne Kroese is approaching its 25th anniversary.
Music and sound design is crucial to the moving image. Music complements the images - what you see is also enhanced by the audio. Music is often the driving force behind powerful editing. We consider ourselves very lucky to be able to work with the creative team at KH Music, something which we have done for years.

wallstories.org
Wallstories is a collaboration with Yvonne Kroese. We create spatial objects as illustrations in public spaces and buildings. The context and history of the location play an important part in our research and the final design is an artistic interpretation. Some of our Wallstories projects can be viewed on this website.
