A book to celebrate 40 years of Rabobank Foundation including filmed interviews with chefs who participated in the project. Food as a central theme correlates to Rabobank’s new Banking for Food vision. The book shows how the Foundation is working to improve the position of small farmers in the chain, so that they can make a reasonable living.
This is also a cookery book – called ROOTS – that many people put their heart and soul into making. The fifteen winners of the Foundation’s recipe competition for staff were rewarded with a trip to Peru, Tanzania or Vietnam. Together with a photographer and a leading Dutch chef they visited various projects and immersed themselves in the day-to-day lives and kitchens of the local farmers. Chefs Ron Blaauw, Margot Janse and Dick Middelweerd travelled with the winners and gathered inspiration for some delicious recipes.
PERU. A photographic reportage of farming and food production in Peru where chef Ron Blaauw gathers inspiration for recipes for the book.
TANZANIA. Edwin Walvisch travels to Tanzania with chef Margot Janse to produce photographic stories.
VIETNAM. Jan-Paul de Vries went to Vietnam with chef Dick Middelweert to take great pictures.
